Home of 'Big Amador Reds, No Lightweights', our Tasting Room is located on Steiner Road - Amador's First Wine Trail - approximately ten minutes outside of downtown Plymouth and an hour east of Sacramento.

Dobra Zemlja Winery was founded in 1995 by owners Milan and Victoria Matulich and opened its doors on August 1st, 1997. Meaning 'good earth' in Croatian, Dobra Zemlja (Doh-bra Zem-ya) produces hearty, unfiltered and unfined wines that are produced with the native yeast from our 100% estate grown grapes. It is all about letting the grape make the wine.

We cannot wait to welcome you to taste our 'Big Amador Reds, No Lightweights' in Amador County's first wine cave and to enjoy a picnic out on our scenic and tree-shaded picnic grounds.

Dobra Zemlja - Estate Vineyard - View From Hill

Warm days and cool nights, rich soil replete with decomposed granite deposits, and rolling hillsides characterize the terroir of the Shenandoah Valley located in the heart of Amador County. Here at Dobra Zemlja Winery, our estate vineyard is at an elevation of 1700 feet complete with a southeastern exposure that brings out the complexity and the richness of the 100% Estate grown varietals we produce.
