Have you ever dreamed of becoming a winemaker? Perfect for wine enthusiasts and novices alike, Behind the Cellar Door is a weekend filled with exceptional Amador wine, delectable small bites, barrel samples, hard-to-find vintages, and wine education, all set in the intimate and scenic Amador Wine Country.

Focused on the Art of Winemaking, this experience allows guests to immerse themselves in the region and discover why Amador Wine Country is celebrated as one of California's top wine destinations. From exploring Sierra Foothill vineyards and meeting winemakers to tasting unique varietals, Behind the Cellar Door offers a wealth of immersive activities throughout this two-day event.

Guests can reserve curated experiences at multiple wineries each day, enjoying tasting flights, behind-the-scenes tours, and educational opportunities led by our talented winemakers and winery teams.

Here at Dobra Zemlja Winery (meaning good earth in Croatian), as we give guests a peek ˜behind the cave door” with an educational barrel/vertical tasting experience of our Estate Syrah with Owner and Winemaker Milan Matulich, mali ‘little’ bites that pair perfectly with a select flight of our˜Big Amador Reds, No Lightweights”, and fantastic wine specials. Save the Date! Tickets go on sale January 2025! Join Dobra Zemlja Winery and the Wineries of Start On Steiner as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Spring into Zin on Sunday, April 13th, 2025!

Amador County is home to some of the oldest and best Zinfandel vines in the country and many of us here on Steiner Road use these vines to produce exquisite Zinfandel wines. Spring into Zin is a true celebration of this varietal that has a storied history in Amador County.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to explore the Steiner Road wineries and discover the finesse, elegance, history, and diversity of our unique terroir on Amador County’s First Wine Trail. The wineries of Steiner Road will be showcasing a selection of their wines with a focus on Zinfandel. Selections will range from old vines, to blends, current releases, and barrel tastings that will be perfectly paired with unique small food bites or other special offerings.
